Continually Decrease Until the Buy Box Is Unsuppressed
When a marketplace suppresses the Buy Box, this option steps your price down by a fixed amount at a set interval until the Buy Box comes back — and never below your minimum price.
When a marketplace suppresses the Buy Box, there's no Buy Box price left to chase — and your normal repricing rules have nothing to aim at. This option takes the initiative instead: it steps your price down by a fixed amount at a fixed interval until the Buy Box comes back, and never below your minimum.
A suppressed Buy Box usually means the marketplace judged every offer on the listing — including yours — too expensive to feature. Waiting it out rarely helps, because nothing on the listing changes on its own. Continually decrease until unsuppressed works the price down in small, controlled steps until the marketplace puts the Buy Box back.
This is one of the options of the When buybox is suppressed rule — the others being match, add, subtract, set to min, set to max, go to competitive price and do not reprice. For the strategy builder as a whole, see How to create an Amazon repricing strategy or its Walmart equivalent.
Where to find it
Go to Strategies and edit (or create) a strategy.
The When buybox is suppressed row only appears for strategies competing on the Buybox. With any other competition type there is no Buy Box to suppress, so the row is hidden.
Switch When buybox is suppressed on, then pick continually decrease until unsuppressed in the dropdown next to it.
Choose how much to subtract each time, and how long to wait between drops.
When buybox is suppressed:
Higher-plan option. continually decrease until unsuppressed is only available on the Turbo Plan and above. On other plans it shows a small upgrade badge, and selecting it prompts you to upgrade — or pick another option — before the strategy can be saved.
The two settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Subtract | How much comes off the price at each step, as a fixed $ amount or a % of the current price. Defaults to $0.05. |
| Interval | How long Flashpricer waits between two drops. Pick 20, 30, 60, 90, 180, 360 or 720 minutes. Defaults to 60. |
Start small. A $0.05 step every 60 minutes gives the marketplace time to react between drops. A large step on a short interval can reach your minimum in a couple of hours and give up most of your margin before the Buy Box has had a chance to return.
How a descent plays out
With a $0.05 step every 60 minutes, starting at $24.99 with a minimum of $24.79:
Each step is applied at most once per interval. If the Buy Box returns at any point, the descent ends immediately and your normal repricing rules take back over.
What keeps it under control
- ·Your minimum price is a hard floor. Once the price reaches your minimum, no further drops happen. If your strategy also has do not reprice below MAP price enabled and the item carries a MAP price, the higher of the two is the floor.
- ·One drop per interval, no catching up. If several intervals pass without an evaluation, Flashpricer still applies a single step and restarts the clock — it never chains missed drops together.
- ·The clock is anchored on the last real drop. Other events (a competitor moving, a sync) can wake the item up in between, but they don't shorten the wait or push it further out.
- ·It doesn't wait for marketplace confirmation. If the previous drop was sent but the marketplace hasn't reported it back yet, the next step is calculated from the price Flashpricer already pushed — so the ladder keeps descending instead of recomputing the same price.
- ·It runs on its own. Repricing is normally triggered by marketplace events, and a suppressed listing generates very few. Flashpricer checks every few minutes for items whose interval has elapsed and wakes them up, so the descent keeps its rhythm even on a completely quiet listing.
Two cases worth knowing
It also covers "no competition". On a Buybox strategy using this option, the when there is no competition rule no longer applies: being the only visible offer — or facing a Buy Box you aren't winning with no competitor data — is itself treated as a reason to keep working the price down. The exception is the When I am the only seller on the listing rule: switch it on and it takes priority as soon as nobody else is on the listing, so the descent stops there instead of walking your price down to the minimum on a listing you have to yourself.
Other situations take priority. If the item is out of stock, if the listing is unpublished and you've enabled the When listing is unpublished rule, or if you are the only seller on the listing and that rule is on, those win instead — lowering a price you can't sell, that nobody can see, or that nobody is competing with achieves nothing. The full order is: out of stock → unpublished → only seller → buy box won → buy box suppressed → no competition.
