How to run a Buy Box by State scan — open the tab, scan all 51 states or pick your own from the map, and follow the scan live as results come in.

Run a per-state Buy Box scan

Scan an Amazon US listing across the country to see who wins the Buy Box in each state. Run the full 51-state sweep in one click, or pick just the states you care about — results come in about a minute, and you can keep working while they do.

Step 1 — Open the tab

Products → your item → Buy Box by State

On the Products page, open the item you want to check (it must be an Amazon US listing) and select the Buy Box by State tab in its detail drawer. The tab shows your credit balance in the top-right.

Step 2 — Scan all 51 states

The fastest option is the big Scan all 51 US states button. It sweeps all 50 states + DC in one go.

Before it runs, a short confirmation shows the cost, your current balance, and your balance after — so there are no surprises. On an unlimited plan there's no confirmation and no credit count.

Failures are free. You're only charged for states that return a result. If a state can't be fetched, it costs nothing.

Step 3 — Or pick specific states

Want a cheaper, targeted scan? Open Customize scan to choose exactly which states to run:

  • Tap the map — click states on the interactive US map to add or remove them.
  • Use region presets — add a whole region at once, or use All 51 / Clear.
  • Search by name — type a state to find and toggle it quickly.

The footer keeps a running total — "N states selected · N credits" — and the scan button shows exactly what you'll spend. If you've picked more than you can afford, it switches to Need X more so you can top up first.

Step 4 — Follow it live

Once a scan starts, a progress panel takes over. You'll see:

  • Progress — states done out of the total, credits used so far, and an estimated time remaining.
  • A live map that fills in state by state as results arrive, plus a feed of the latest few.
  • It refreshes every ~10 seconds and runs in the background — you can safely close the drawer and come back; the scan keeps going.

When it finishes, the results view appears automatically.

Not enough credits for a full scan? Either top up (see Scan credits & billing) or use Customize scan to run just the states you can afford.

Frequently asked

Can I close the drawer while it runs?
Yes. The scan runs in the background — close the drawer, keep working, and reopen the tab later to see the finished results.
Why is the tab missing on my item?
Buy Box by State is Amazon US only, and the item needs an ASIN. It won't appear on Walmart or non-US Amazon listings.
Do I have to scan all 51 states?
No — use Customize scan to pick any subset (from one state up to all 51). You're billed per state, so a smaller scan costs less.
How long until results appear?
Usually about a minute for a full scan, sometimes a couple of minutes under load. States stream in as they resolve.
