Products & items: the write tools
The MCP tools that change your Products & items — edit overrides, push a manual price, assign a strategy, re-enable repricing — with the safety rules and an example of what to ask.
When you grant it write access, a connected AI assistant can change your items in plain language — edit overrides, push a manual price, assign a strategy, or re-enable repricing. Here are the four write tools for Products & items, and the safety rules around them.
New here? Start with Connect an AI assistant to Flashpricer (MCP). Just want to look things up? See Products & items: the read tools.
These tools change your data. They need the Products · manage permission — which the assistant only has if you approved it when connecting. Three of the four preview the change first and wait for your confirmation before applying, and every write is recorded in the item's history, traceable to the assistant that made it. Only repricing-enabled items can be edited (B2B / Amazon Business isn't supported).
The write tools
update-item-overridesWriteConfirmsproducts · manageEdits an item's pricing overrides, then lets repricing recalculate.
costOverride · minOverride · maxOverride · mapPrice · shippingPriceOverride · fbmShippingCost (FBM / Walmart only) · referralFeesOverride (Walmart only). Set a field to null to clear that override.push-manual-priceWriteConfirmsproducts · manageManually sets and pushes a price straight to the marketplace, bypassing the automatic strategy.
assign-item-strategyWriteproducts · manageAssigns a repricing strategy to an item — or removes it (set to none). The strategy must be active and compatible with the item's marketplace. Resets the repricing fields and recalculates.
enable-item-repricingWriteConfirmsproducts · manageTurns repricing back on for an item that's currently disabled — the only tool that can act on a disabled item.
How writes stay safe
- You confirm first. For
update-item-overrides,push-manual-priceandenable-item-repricing, the assistant shows you the before → after preview and only applies the change after you say yes. - Everything's traceable. Every write is written to the item's history and tagged to the assistant that made it, so you can always see what changed and when.
- Guardrails are enforced. Prices must respect the item's min/max, only repricing-enabled items can be edited, and B2B / Amazon Business items are off-limits.
- Least privilege. If you'd rather the assistant only ever reads, connect it with Products · view and skip the manage permission — these tools simply won't be available.
With write access granted, try "Set this item's min to $19.99, then show me the before/after." Just exploring? See the read tools. Questions? Reach us at success@flashpricer.com.
