Quantity discounts below your minimum price (and MAP)

By default, Flashpricer never publishes an Amazon Business quantity tier that would price a unit below your minimum. If you deliberately want aggressive bulk pricing, an opt-in setting removes that safety — tier by tier, strategy by strategy. This guide explains exactly what it changes, what still protects you, and how to turn it on.

Available on every account — but off by default. The settings described below sit in all your Amazon Business strategies: there is nothing to request and nothing to unlock. As long as you leave them untouched, your quantity tiers keep their standard minimum-price protection.

Because a misconfiguration can sell inventory below cost in bulk, read this guide before you tick anything — and if you'd like a second opinion on your setup, our team is at success@flashpricer.com.

New to Amazon Business quantity pricing? Start with Amazon Business repricing: B2B strategies & quantity discounts — this article only covers the below-minimum option.

The default: your minimum always wins

An Amazon Business quantity tier is calculated from your repriced B2B base price — a 5% tier on a $100 base price gives $95 per unit. If that per-unit price lands below the item's minimum price, Flashpricer skips the tier: it is not sent to Amazon, and the other tiers are published normally.

That protection is why a bulk order can never quietly sell below your floor. For most sellers it is exactly the right behaviour, and it stays on unless you deliberately change it.

What the opt-in changes

The setting lives on the strategy, so it applies to every item assigned to that strategy — not to a single product. There are two checkboxes, the second nested inside the first:

Allow quantity discounts below the minimum priceQuantity tiers are no longer capped by your minimum price. A tier can be published under your minimum — and under your cost. Your single (non-tier) B2B price is unaffected: it still respects your minimum.
Also allow them below the MAP priceOnly appears once the first box is ticked. Without it, your Minimum Advertised Price still caps quantity tiers even when the minimum no longer does.
!

The MAP caps quantity discounts by default. If your strategy has Do not reprice below Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) if provided switched on and the item has a MAP, that MAP applies to quantity tiers too. This is the most common surprise: you tick the first box, and a tier still isn't published — because the MAP, not the minimum, is now holding it.

The floor hierarchy

Whatever your configuration, a quantity tier must clear one floor. The highest applicable one wins:

Which floor applies to a quantity tier
1MAP priceApplies when Do not reprice below MAP is on and the item has a MAP.Bypassable — 2nd checkbox
2Your minimum priceThe item's Amazon Business minimum (a per-item override wins over the strategy).Bypassable — 1st checkbox
3$0.01 hard floorA tier price can never be zero or negative. Amazon rejects those outright.Never bypassable

A worked example

Item with a B2B base price of $100.00, a minimum price of $80.00 and a MAP of $75.00. A tier of 30% off computes to $70.00 per unit.
ConfigurationFloor appliedResult for the $70 tier
Default
Both boxes off

Below-min allowed
1st box on
$75.00 (your MAP)Still skipped
Below-min and below-MAP allowed
Both boxes on
$0.01 (hard floor)Published at $70.00
With only the first box on, a gentler tier would go out: a 15% tier computes to $85.00 — below your $80 minimum, but above the $75 MAP, so it is published.

Before you turn it on

!

The loss is multiplied by the ordered quantity. A tier priced below cost doesn't lose you a few cents on one unit — a business buyer ordering 50 units multiplies that loss 50 times, in a single order.

  • ·It applies to every item on the strategy. Not just the product you had in mind. Consider creating a dedicated strategy for the SKUs you want to discount aggressively.
  • ·Amazon may suppress your offer. A very low quantity price can be read as a pricing error, and the whole B2B offer can disappear from the listing.
  • ·Going below MAP may breach your brand agreements. The second checkbox removes a contractual safeguard, not just a technical one.
  • ·Your cost is not a floor. Flashpricer will not stop a tier from landing below what you paid for the item.

How to enable it

Open your Amazon Business strategy

Go to Strategies and open the Amazon Business strategy you want to change.

Turn on quantity pricing first

In Amazon Business Quantity Pricing, make sure Enable quantity pricing is on and your tiers are configured. Without tiers, the setting is visible but greyed out — it has nothing to act on.

Tick the box in Minimum / Maximum pricing

Scroll to Minimum / Maximum pricing and tick Allow quantity discounts below the minimum price. To also bypass your MAP, tick the nested Also allow them below the MAP price.

Acknowledge the confirmation

Saving opens a confirmation listing what you are removing and what still applies. Nothing is saved until you choose I understand, remove the safetyCancel returns you to the form with nothing changed.

What still protects you

  • The $0.01 hard floor. A tier price can never be zero or negative.
  • Your maximum price. Unchanged.
  • Your MAP price — unless you also tick the second checkbox.
  • The discount is still relative. Tiers are computed from the repriced base price, so a 20% tier never goes below 80% of that price. The bypass removes a floor; it doesn't deepen your discounts.
  • Your single B2B price. Only quantity tiers are affected — the base B2B price Flashpricer publishes still respects your minimum, and Amazon's rule that B2B can never exceed B2C still applies.

Where you'll see it

Because this setting is easy to forget once it's on, Flashpricer surfaces it in several places:

  • ·A red Below-min quantity discounts badge on the strategy, in your Strategies list — so you can see the state without opening the strategy. Hover it for a summary of which floors still apply.
  • ·Per-tier badges on the item, in the item's Quantity Pricing tab: below min, below min — will be skipped, below MAP — will be skipped and below cost, so you can tell at a glance which tiers will actually go out.
  • ·Your repricing history explains each outcome in plain English — for example "Quantity tier priced at $70.00 was kept below your minimum price of $80.00", or "Quantity tier computed at $70.00 was skipped — your MAP price of $75.00 also applies to quantity discounts".
!

Duplicating a strategy keeps the setting. If you duplicate a strategy that has the safety off, the copy inherits it — Flashpricer warns you before it does. You can turn it off on the copy afterwards, in its Minimum / Maximum pricing section.

Not available through the API. These two settings can only be changed from the web interface, where the risk has to be explicitly acknowledged. API and MCP requests that try to set them are rejected, and your stored value is left untouched.

Frequently asked

Do I need to ask support to unlock this feature?
No. It is available on every account. Open any Amazon Business strategy and you'll find the two checkboxes in its Minimum / Maximum pricing section — unticked by default, and saved only after you explicitly acknowledge what you are removing.
I ticked the box but my tier still isn't published. Why?
Almost always your MAP price. It still caps quantity discounts unless you also tick Also allow them below the MAP price. Otherwise, check the $0.01 hard floor, and your item's Quantity Pricing tab — each tier shows a badge explaining whether it will be published or skipped.
Does this affect my normal B2B price too?
No. Only quantity tiers. The single B2B price Flashpricer publishes is still clamped to your minimum and maximum, exactly as before.
Does it affect my B2C (consumer) prices?
Not at all. The setting only exists on Amazon Business strategies and only touches Amazon Business quantity tiers. Your standard Amazon and Walmart strategies are untouched.
Can I enable it for just one product?
No — it's a strategy-level setting and applies to every item assigned to that strategy. If you only want it on a subset of your catalog, create a dedicated Amazon Business strategy for those SKUs and enable it there.
Will a tier ever be priced at zero, or negative?
Never. A $0.01 hard floor applies in every configuration and cannot be bypassed — Amazon rejects non-positive prices, and a zero-priced bulk tier is never an intentional setup.
How do I turn it back off?
Untick Allow quantity discounts below the minimum price in the strategy's Minimum / Maximum pricing section and save — no confirmation needed to restore the safety. Turning off the first checkbox also clears the nested MAP bypass. From the next repricing run, tiers below your minimum are skipped again.
